Summer Reading Challenge 2020

The Summer Reading Challenge has always been a highlight of Wirral Libraries calendar.

Unfortunately, this year due to covid19,  Wirral Libraries will be unable to run the challenge in the way that they have done in previous years.

However, The Reading Agency have taken the Summer Reading Challenge online. The theme of this year’s challenge is The Silly Squad and is all about funny books, happiness, and laughter.

Children can join the adventure by setting up their own personal challenge on the Silly Squad online platform at www.sillysquad.org.uk.

Families can keep track of the books that they have read, see book recommendations, and unlock rewards. There will also be lots of activities and quizzes to keep them entertained and encourage them to keep up their reading over the summer.

As well as reading their own books the children can download eBooks and e-audio books from the Wirral Libraries webpage and, hopefully, soon we will be able to offer a click or phone and collect book service from some of our libraries- www.wirral.gov.uk/libraries.

If they are not already a member you can join temporarily to borrow from their e-collections.

Wirral Library services will also be offering literacy related activities, competitions, information and links through their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
