Buzzing with Excitement: Holden’s Beekeeping Adventure, by Mrs Harris
Date: 28th Apr 2025 @ 8:47pm
This evening, we were absolutely delighted to see Holden stepping into the fascinating world of beekeeping — and following in his dad’s footsteps!
Dressed in full beekeeping gear, Holden showed great enthusiasm and curiosity as he learned how to care for these incredible little creatures. His confidence and interest truly shone through, and it was wonderful to witness such a memorable and inspiring moment.
Learning experiences like this one show just how important hands-on opportunities are in sparking a lifelong love of the natural world. We are all so proud of you, Holden — a brilliant future beekeeper in the making!
Keep shining, learning, and inspiring others with your passion!

Walking with Jesus Through Holy Week – Year 5 and 6
This week, our Year 5 and 6 children have been busy taking part in lots of special Holy Week activities to help them prepare for Easter ✝️
They learned about The Last Supper 🍞, played fun Easter games, and took part in a lovely hand-washing liturgy 👐 to remind them of Jesus’ service and love. They also walked to Birkenhead Park, carrying a cross just like Jesus did ➕, and designed their own beautiful candles to get ready for Holy Saturday
There’s been lots of time to think, pray and reflect on the true meaning of Easter – a time of hope, love and new life ✨

Hoylake Lifeboat Station, by Mrs Schultz
Date: 28th Mar 2025 @ 12:04am
Year 1 had a fantastic trip to Hoylake Lifeboat Station yesterday. The children learnt all about the hard work of the RNLI and how lifeboats have changed from the past to the present. Each lifeboat class is named after a river and the one that they house in Hoylake is a Shannon Class. We were surprised to learn that a Shannon lifeboat costs £2.4 million and weighs the same as 3 African elephants! We also saw their hovercraft and experienced life in the crew rooms, where we saw where the selfless volunteers dress in their all-weather suits and can look out over the River Mersey. We had a great time and thanked them for their service to the community and for giving their time to teach us all about horse power and engines! We found out that only the day before, the coastguards were called upon for a rescue operation. This just goes to show how important the RNLI's role is in saving lives. Thanks to the parents who donated money as part of our trip cost, the RNLI is a charity and the volunteers there led this trip for us at no cost. Your donations will be sent across to support them to continue their life-saving service.

Science Week- The Peppered Moth, by Mrs Schultz
Date: 16th Mar 2025 @ 11:11pm
This year, the theme for British Science Week is 'Change and Adapt'. In Year 1, the children learned all about adaptation and camouflage through the story of the peppered moth. Peppered moths have lived in the UK for centuries and are usually white with black speckles across the wings, blending well with lichen-covered tree trunks. Some moths, however, such as black peppered moths have black wings, making them more visible to predators and keeping their numbers low. In the 19th century, pollution killed the lichen and darkened tree trunks with soot. Pale moths became easy targets for predators, while darker moths were now better camouflaged. As a result, black moths thrived, with 98% of peppered moths in Manchester turning black within 50 years. By the mid-20th century, air quality improved, lichen returned, and tree trunks lightened. This shift favoured pale moths once again, causing black moth numbers to decline. The children loved looking at images of the moths and other animals and insects. They tried hard to spot creatures hidden by natural camouflage. They then designed their own butterflies to test how well they blend into different habitats. We had some wonderful creations, with children even trying to hide their butterflies from the teachers! Excuse some of the fuzzy photos- the children have been using the iPads to take their own photographs!
