Hi F2,
Here are today's activities:
Literacy – Alliteration
Listen to the story (Akira’s Animal Alphabet Alliterations) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-IpfL1uCgc
Can you think of any more alliterative animal phrases? E.g. blue bird, green grasshopper, ruby ring.
Can you write an alliterative poem all about animals or objects? It doesn’t have to rhyme.
For example: I can see a blue bird.
I can see a big brown bear.
I have a ruby red ring.
Phonics – Consolidation
In Phonics, we are practising our Phase 2 and 3 phonemes:
Phase 2 (s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss)
Phase 3 (j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er).
Play a game of splat the sound. Can you write some of your Phase 2 and 3 sounds on paper and have an adult say a sound. Can you splat it with your hand?
Challenge – can you write a word containing that sound?
Maths – Halving
Watch and join in with the lesson about halving https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/understanding-the-concept-of-half-part-1-ccvp8t
Can you complete the worksheet all about halving? (You will find this on the School Spider)
Thematic: What sounds can you hear in the rainforest?
Go on to Tapestry (Memo). Watch Miss Kealey’s video reading a story all about an Orang-utan.
Talk to children about the issues the rainforest animals are facing due to the trees being cut down and their habitat destroyed.
Can you use a range of materials to make a ‘Save our rainforest’ poster, think about what you could write on the poster.
We have started uploading videos of stories on Tapestry (Memo). In addition, there is a video on Tapestry explaining some Phonics terminology.
This week is Children’s Mental Health Week there are lots of activities that you can do on https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/ Place 2B website.
Wellbeing Activity: Play a game of hide and seek with your family
Have fun and remember to post pictures of your work on Tapestry!

Understanding the World
Today we are working on our Understanding the World area of learning.
Before you start, why don't you have a try warming up with Joe Wicks?
1
Today we will be looking at the change in the caterpillar and then the changes we can see in ourselves
First of all, look at the pictures of the caterpillar throughout the story.
What did he start as? What did he grow in to? What did he do throughout the story to grow into a butterfly?
Can you show your child the video of The Very Hungry Caterpillar again, encourage them to look at the different parts of the lifecycle of a caterpillar.
Why and how do they think that has happened?
If you are able to, can you show pictures of yourself as a baby, child, teenager, if not is there anyone else in the family that you could show their growth and change through pictures?
2
Look at the way they have changed by looking at their baby pictures.
What changes can they notice?
Do a hand print using paint or draw around their hand and then do the same to yours. What do they notice about the two?
Do they think they will grow as big as their parent or stay as they are?
What will help them to grow?
Can they draw a picture of themselves as a baby and then a picture of themselves now?
3.
Now that you have seen what you looked like as a baby and what your family looked like, we now need to think about the caterpillar and what they would grow into.
Do you think you could make me a lifecycle of a caterpillar?
You can be as creative as you want. You can draw it, paint it, build it or make it.
I would like to see an egg, a very small caterpillar, a fully grown caterpillar, a cocoon and a butterfly.
I can’t wait to see all your creations.
4. If you would like to have a go at making an exploratory tray, you could use cucumber, tomatoes and raisins to create a caterpillar, go on the hunt for some leaves and twigs and make a habitat for your caterpillar to live in.
5
Write your name and measure yourself with a piece of string, cut the string and tie it ina bow with your name and the date on. Then place it in your memory box

Date: 2nd Feb 2021 @ 6:38pm
Hi F2,
Here are todays activities:
Literacy – Alliteration
Sometimes we get words muddled when they all begin with the same letter and are next to each other, which is alliteration. Listen some tongue twisters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tvZ-J5AsfM&t=187s&pbjreload=101
Can you say the first letter that their name begins with? For example ‘B’ for Billy. Can you recognise the first letter of the names of the people you live with?
Can you write a name label but use some alliteration too. Think about your coat peg in school what is the picture? For example: Tiger Tim. You might even want to think of an action For example: Jumping Jake.
Phonics – Consolidation
In Phonics, we are practising our Phase 2 and 3 phonemes:
Phase 2 (s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss)
Phase 3 (j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er).
https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/assets/resources/shared/pdf-thumbnails/printables-scene-farmyard.jpg Can you look at the picture. can you write some words to match what you see in the picture? For example: sheep. Can you write your sound buttons too?
Maths – Halving
Watch the story all about halving https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=663FhDCwhkY
Have some different pieces of fruit/ objects E.g. 4 apples, 6 bananas, 5 oranges etc.
Pick a number. Can they count out the correct amount of fruit/ objects and halve it equally (share between 2)?
Repeat this with different numbers.
Thematic: What sounds can you hear in the rainforest?
Talk about the rainforest climate and the fact that it rains a lot. Show children rainmaker instrument and explore using it to make different sounds. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51KDYKZOQJL._AC_SX425_.jpg
Explore pouring different materials into cardboard tubes (kitchen roll tube or just rolled up card) eg. lentils, rice etc and what sounds best.
Can you create a rainforest design on paper that can be wrapped around your rainmaker you might include trees and what animals live in the rainforest.
Can you make a rainforest sound composition, explore starting quietly and then get louder.
Wellbeing Activity: Do some yoga with your family.

We have loved seeing all your work so far so keep up the good work.
I will be posting a story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar tomorrow so watch out for that.
Here are the activities for today.
Cosmic Kids Yoga
The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Literacy and Communication and Language
1
Listen to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Focus on the p sound, can they have a try at writing the sound p?
What food did the caterpillar eat that began with p?
What other food can they think of that begins with p, make a list together.
2
Now that you have thought about food that begins with p in the story, can you think about your favourite food? Mrs McLaren’s favourite food is pizza, what sound does that begin with?
Can you draw your favourite food and write the initial sound next to it?
Children may need help to write the initial sound so if you could write in yellow, or a lighter colour and the child copy over the letter that would be great.
They can also use the letter board we have sent home to find and recognise the initial sound and have a practice writing over those letters.
3
Fine motor control
If you have playdough could you make some small balls of playdough?
Then, using your tweezers or kitchen tongs, try to pick up the balls of playdough and place them down next to each other to make a caterpillar. Find something to use as antenna and eyes and legs.
Can you make a big face and mouth for your caterpillar?
The caterpillar is hungry, do you think you could make some food for him and feed him with your tweezers/tongs?
4
Well being task
Start to create your very own memory box, capturing your time at home with your family.
The first thing you need to do today is find a box and start to decorate it.
Each day we will add something to the b

Mental Health Week, by Mr Chamberlain
Date: 2nd Feb 2021 @ 8:41am
This week we are celebrating Mental Health Week. The theme is "Express Yourself".
We are aiming to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by asking our children to use their imagination and creativity to express themselves on the theme of Mental Health and Wellbeing. Children may decide to design a poster, create a performance, write a poem, make an object, as long as it is about mental health it can be anything!
Some of the following statements could be used;

Maths – Doubling
Listen to the My Doggie Double song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqp90ulJiIo&t=50s
Can you make or draw a butterfly and cut some circles out of paper. Then roll a dice and whatever number it lands on can you put the circles on each side of the butterfly’s wings. Can you work out what double of your number is?
e.g. 3 and 3 is 6 (so double 3 is 6)
RE: Jesus heals the sick
Listen to the Story of Ben. (Ask an adult to read the story, please see attached)
Can you verbally answer these questions?
How did Ben feel when he was in hospital?
• What did his friends make for him?
• Can anyone think of anything else they did?
• What did Ben think was the best thing they did?
• How can we help people when they are ill?
Listen to the song and join in with the actions. We Believe (Easter Song) - YouTube
Jesus brought the good news of God’s love to everyone. He healed the sick, raised the dead, he fed the hungry and he quickly forgave people who had made wrong choices.
Write a speech bubble of what they think Jesus would say to the sick.

Monday 01.02.21
Todays tasks are to do with phonics and physical development.
We are working on our rhyming today within phonics.
1
Rhyming pairs In a pairs game, use pictures or objects with names that rhyme.
If you don't have any rhyming cards you could draw them or just find objects or toys that rhyme.
Here are a few simple ones: mug, rug, bug, jug, slug
cat,bat,rat,hat
ham, jam, lamb
hen,pen,ten
dog,frog,log
Take it in turns to turn two cards over and keep them if the pictures are a rhyming pair.If they are not a rhyming pair, the cards are turned face down again and the other person has a turn.
If playing with objects, split the rhyming objects.Place one of each of the rhyming objects outside the box and the other objects inside the box. Pull one object out at a time and match it to the objects outside of the boxt. Again take it in turns to match the objects. the person with the most pairs at the end wins.
Start with a small core set of words that can then be extended. The children need to be familiar with the rhyming word families before they can use them in a game – spend time looking at the pictures/objects and talking about the pairs.
2
Cutting activities. All our children need lots of practice with cutting as it is a very hard skill to master.
Encourage your child to work on their cutting skills, focusing on how they hold their scissors and what hand they hold their scissors in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDtupoBsp6o
Above just a simple video to help your child learn how to hold scissors proerly and cut.
Different resources you can use to help with their cutting skills is playdough, straws, paper, bread and card.
3
Hide and seek game
Promotes listening and attention and language skills and prepositional language, e.g. on top of, underneath, next to and behind.
Use some of your child’s favourite toys and hide them around the room before your child comes in.
Encourage your child to find the toys, following your instructions e.g. it is underneath something blue. Once they have found all the toys re-set the game focusing on the prepositions they found the hardest.
Allow your child to then hide them and encourage them to use the prepositional language to explain where the toys are.
You could incorporate some rhyming in here too if you are able by placing items that rhyme by each other, e.g. a mug on a rug, a hat on a mat etc.
4
Well being activity
If you haven’t already, pick up a baking set from our pop up pantry open from 10-11 am and enjoy doing some baking.
