Year 5 Ice trap- Shackleton’s Incredible Expedition

After the children had warmed up,  we read and discussed diary entries, photographs and films of the event. Using this, the children recreated scenes and performed these for the rest of the class using sound effects and thought tracking.

Next week we will start looking at the scripted elements. Excellent work by all today. Well done year 5!

F2 Singing and Dancing

Today F2 had a lot of fun singing and dancing. Once the children were warmed up, they played a listening game of "Musical Status" - there was lots of laughter! We danced to Chu Chu Wa and Head, Shouders, Knees and Toes.... which gradually got faster and faster.

The children also listened to a story, which they loved!

There was so much laughter and energy!

Well down everyone!!!!

Yr 3 Stone Age Boy, by Mr Glen

Date: 14th Sep 2021 @ 12:39pm

Tuesday 14th September 21: Yr3- Stone Age Boy

Excellent session with Year 3.

Today we recapped on the rules of the class and did a warm up activity and game. After everyone was warm and a ready, we recapped the story and started our journey in to the Stone Age.

In groups we recreated pictures of the stone age and improvised different scenarios in a “Freeze”.

In their groups (each with a Team Leader and Deputy) they were give four different scenarios and then acted them out to the rest of the class. They had:

  • In a school for stone age children: Learning how to make flint Spears
  • On the hunt for a deer: You have to slowly circle it and then throw your spears
  • Trying to catch fish by a river: Slowly look for the fish and then quickly throw your spear and get it. Some do, some don’t.
  • Sleeping by a fire at night: You wake up and hear an animal trying to creep in and attack. Use your noise and spears to scare it off.

They brought them to life using their own made up “Stone Age” language and asked the other groups if they could guess what they were doing. Excellent work in team work, communication, concentration and cooperation today!

Reminder for our Families, by Mrs Harris

Date: 7th Aug 2021 @ 7:05pm

Families, just a little reminder that if your child brings grapes to school as a snack or as part of their lunch, they should always be cut lengthwise so they can pass more easily through smaller throats. And never widthwise, because they’ll still be big enough to choke on.

Thank you ???

Date: 27th Jul 2021 @ 12:23am

Giant snakes and ladders anyone? ????
Our children had a great time designing and chalking out their very own absolutely GIGANTIC snakes and ladders board on the playground today.
This took the traditional game of Snakes and Ladders to a much more active level!
The children were right at the heart of the game, moving up the ladders ???and down the snakes??? with a very special role for the overall champion............??????
