Happy Friday Year 6!! 

We can't believe we are already at the end of week 3 of online learning! Thank you for all the fantastic work that you have sent in this week. 

The daily video explaining today's tasks is uploaded below so make sure you watch that! Don't forget to send us any pictures of your work to us through the school spider. 

A brief outline for today 

English - Today you will use similes and metaphors to form a descriptive piece of writing. You will be imagining you are Maia from our text 'Journey to the River Sea.' 

Maths -  Intepreting negative numbers on a line graph and answering questions alongside this. 

RE - Following on from last week looking at our topic 'Exploring the Mass' there are some questions uploaded onto the school spider for you. 

There is also the home well-being activities for you to complete at home with your families. We have loved seeing some pictures of some of you baking at home so please do send us any pictures of what you get up to. 

Also don't forget to take part in the Rockstars Times Tables battle.

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Here is a brief overview of today's lessons;

English today will explore metaphors and how we can use them within our writing to paint a picture to the reader. 

Maths will continue with negative numbers and will have links to temperatures around the world.

Art will involve finding definitions to key vocabulary linked to our current topic. You will also be expected to re-create a piece of South American art work.

You also need to ensure you have read/listened to chapter 1, 2 and 3 of Journey to the River Sea. You may begin Chapter 4 if you are have.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Here is a brief overview of today's lessons;

English today will involve a new poem called 'Rainforest Phantoms'- you will need to read, annotate and explore the poem in detail noting any unfamiliar vocabulary and researching meaning/definitions.

Maths today will continue with Roman Numerals

Today's Geography will investigate trade and the economy within key South American countries. You will need to label and colour a map and complete the attached worksheet.

Good Morning Year 6, 

We hope you are all keeping safe and enjoying some time with your families. 

We have uploaded a daily video explaing the tasks we would like you to complete today. 

A brief overview

English you will be completing your final letter to Boris Johnson perusading him to help you slow down deforestation and the impact it is having on our country. We would like you to edit the work from yesterday and then write your final piece. 

Maths is multiplying decimals (there is a PowerPoint for you to work through on the school spider). 

Art is to research a famous South American artist and create a fact file including information about his early life, his work and what inspires his artwork (more information on the school spider). 

We really do love seeing your work that you have completed at home so please do send us some pictures of your work through the school spider. 

We have also added some at home well-being ideas for you to complete throughout the next few weeks to keep you busy and bring some enjoyment to you and your families through this very strange time.

Happy Hump Day- we are half way through the week!!

Here is a brief overview of today's lessons;

Maths today will finding equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages.

English today will be exploring persuasive language and persuasive devices and then you will be drafting out a letter to persuade either Boris Johnson or the President of Brazil to take more action against deforestation. 

Science will be learning about electrical circuits and the components needed to make a complete circuit.

Activity 1:

Find 3 pieces of quality evidence on the impact of deforestation to include in your letter- use the internet to find these or the videos watched last week. The video above explains this.

Activity 2:

Write three sentences that use repetition in each to reiterate an important point. The video above explains this.Activity 3:

Write 3 sentence about the impact of deforestation using interesting adjectives and adverbs. The video above explains this.

Activity 4:

Write one sentence about why we should reduce/stop deforestation

Maths: It is following on with addition and subtraction of decimals. There will be a worksheet uploaded onto the school spider. There is a silver and gold challenge! How many can you do?

Geography: Understand the geographical similarities and differences between Brazil in South America and USA and Russia. More information will be on the school spider.

Good Morning Year 6, 

Hope you are all keeping safe and keeping busy at homesmiley

We are now going to upload a blog and a video daily, explaining the tasks for each day. If you go onto the school spider to ask any questions you might have and you can also upload your completed work here.

Today in Maths we are going to be looking at BIDMAS - this is the correct order to complete an equation when there are different operations. We have uploaded a worksheet for you to complete, you will be able to find this on the school spider. On the weekly timetable of work you will be able to find some links to videos. 

English - Is looking at deforestation and the impact this can have. If you go onto the school spider you will be able to find the links to the videos and further information. 

In the afternoon you will be doing Art which is starting to look at some pieces of South American art and starting to recreate some pieces of art of your own using inspiration from your research. 

Don't forget to take plenty of breaks and maybe try to do some excersise or get some fresh air.

Good Afternoon Year 6!

We hope you are keeping well at home!

Just a quick reminder of how to access your Online Learning Tasks via the school website....

Click on the 'Classes' tab on the school website homepage

Select 'Year 6'

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see a message updated daily...videos will start from tomorrow! (Thursday 7th)

You will also find the weekly plan of lessons and activities- there are links to videos and information that will help you on here too. 

To upload your work, you will need to log in to our SchoolSpider using your own login. Please contact us via the school office if you need your login.

You can either attach a file or upload a picture of your work.

We will then provide feedback for your work as quickly as possible via SchoolSpider.

This really is the final goodbye... for now... 

We have made your leavers video which is attached below (there is a PowerPoint with a couple of embedded YouTube videos - click on the link to watch). There are a few little surprises for you in there which we think you will love and possibly have a good laugh at. 

You have been an amazing year group and we know that you all have sparkling futures ahead of you. Remember us when you are successful!!!!

Hi Year 6, 

Hope you are all keeping well. We really are all missing you here in school. 

We are here again with more activities for you to complete at home. This week we need to start thinking about creating you a leaving memoir that you can all look back on for years to come. Unfortunately, this year we can't celebrate in our normal way but we still want you to have the send off that you all deserve.

We hope you have continued to enjoy the lovely weather we have had again this week. We certainly have been enjoying the lovely sunshine. 

Last week we set you the task to send us any questions you have for your High School, we didn't recieve any questions from you. It's absolutely fine if you don't have any questions but please don't be afraid to send a question in if you do think of one.

Hi Year 6, 

The weeks are really starting to fly by!! We hope you have been enjoying the lovely weather we have been having and spending lots of time outside. 

Your challenges this week involve you to start thinking about your transition from Primary School to High School. Please have a think about any questions you have for your new school and ask your parents to email them over to us. These questions can be about absolutely anything but don't worry if you don't have any questions at this point.

We will try to answer as many questions as possible.

We hope you are all keeping well and staying safe with your families in these very strange times! 

Myself and Mrs Parry have thought of some more challenges to keep you busy over the next week. One of your challenges is a really important one as it is the time of year when we need to start thinking about you leaving us to go to your new High Schools. All the information has been included in a word document for you. 

Thank you for all the pictures of work and activities you have been doing at home. We really do love seeing all your pictures and knowing how you all are so keep them coming! Sorry we don't get to reply to them all but don't worry we do recieve them all.
