F2LW - Church Farm, by Miss Ward

F2LW had a wonderful time at Church Farm yesterday!
We were introduced to the Farmers and we saw lots of different animals such as, pigs, goats, geese, meerkats and emu's. We went on an exciting tractor ride to go and feed some ponies, alpacas and donkeys. We then went to the Hen House and collected lots of eggs followed by holding some rabbits and guinea pigs. We learnt so much about the farm and are excited to continue our learning in the upcoming weeks.

What a fantastic day we have had at Church Farm today!
We have fed horses, ponies, alpacas, stroked geese and hens, saw goats, a baby cow, sheep and pigs, collected eggs, held rabbits and guinea pigs, had a tractor ride around the farm and lots more! We have learnt so much and can't wait to continue our learning about the farm over the next 2 weeks!

Year 6 continue to enjoy their weekly chess lessons! All the students are making exceptional progress and the concentration is exemplary......just look at how seriously they take each challenge.
The pupils are now running workshops for parents every Wednesday at 3pm. They love sharing their knowledge with anyone who wishes to learn to play or who simply fancies taking them on. Year 6 - Russian Dolls, by Mrs Parry

During the last half term Year 6 worked hard to create the most beautiful Russian inspired home-furnishings! We hope that all their hard work was appreciated!
We all had to use a great deal of patience as we tackled sewing and learned a skill that we will be able to use in our future.
Year 6 -Becoming Architects, by Mrs Parry

On Friday Year 6 spent an exciting morning creating a prototype for a new Birkenhead Landmark. We studied the features and measurements of iconic landmarks in our capital city and put together a proposal for a replica structure in our own locality.
As architects we needed to use our maths to calculate land areas, surface areas and volume and then we applied our understanding of scale factors to produce blue prints for construction. We had no idea how much maths was involved!

As it was a lovely sunny afternoon, some of the F2 children went outside and helped tidy some of the flower beds and vegetable patches so they are ready for us to plant some fruits, vegetables and flowers. We had lots of fun learning about what plants need to grow and all about the animals that live in the soil. Some of us were very excited when we dug up a worm!

Year 5 had an exciting World Book Day! We spent part of the morning with author David Webb. After being inspired we created our own story books. We also enjoyed reading and many other activities including a catwalk, to show off all of the fabulous costumes!

F2 - Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds Week, by Miss Ward

This week, we have been learning about how to keep our bodies and our minds healthy. We talked about what foods are healthy and unhealthy, then we each made a healthy fruit kebab using a repeated pattern for snack time. They were very tasty!
We also looked at how to keep our minds healthy by using our 'Zones of Regulation Chart', this helped us to look at our different emotions and how to deal with them. We then participated in some breathing exercises and yoga which helped us feel very calm and relaxed. We have had a lovely week learning all about how to stay healthy!

F2 - Rainforest Posters, by Miss Ward

This week F2 have been learning all about Rainforests and the animals that live in them. We talked about how parts of the Rainforest are being destroyed and how we could help to solve the deforestation problem. We decided to make posters to inform people on how we can save the Rainforest. Look at the lovely posters that we have created!
Domingos Cardoso Da Silva - Art Year 6 , by Miss Houghton

Year 6 have recently been learning about a Brazilian artist named Domingos Cardosa Da Silva. His most famous piece is of the favelas in Brazil, children started the topic by recreating their own piece of the favelas similar to Domingos. This week the children began to create their own cityscapes including Liverpool. We are amazed by all the children's work - here are some examples

Year 6 have recently being designing their own apps. Last week the children made their own surveys to see what app s children their own age would like. This week they were reading the results from their surveys and seeing what they needed to do to improve their apps from the responses recieved.

This week F2 have been working hard learning about different habitats across the world! We have made habitat boxes, created leaflets, sorted which animals and plants live in the habitats and we also learnt a habitat song. On Friday we invited Year 1 to come over to our classrooms to share what we have learnt with them. The children had a fantastic time telling Year 1 about their learning and showing their work to them.

This week Reception have been learning all about different habitats! We have made habitat boxes, sorted animals, made leaflets, learnt a habitat song and on Friday we decided to share what we have learnt with Year 1. Reception loved telling Year 1 everything they know and enjoyed sharing their work with the big children! And of course the added highlight for me was the chance to spend time with my class from last year and seeing how much progress they have all made!

F2 enjoyed working with Mr McGovern yesterday. We worked on our different gross motor skills whilst playing exciting games. We all had so much fun and can't wait to see what motor games we will play next week.

On Tuesday we were very lucky to have a dance workshop with Frankie and she taught us an animal dance to 'I just can't wait to be king'. We practised the dance and made animal masks and performed it for our parents on Friday afternoon! We have had a great week!

This week in Thematic we have been learning about different types of animals. We created animal masks and learnt a dance to the song 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King'. We loved performing our dance to our families and friends this afternoon. Thank you to all who could attend, we had a great afternoon!

Year 4 have been learning all about Judaism this week. Today they focused in the celebration of Hanukkah. The children enjoyed acting out the story of Hanukkah, doing freeze frames, writing the story, making a menorah, making Hanukkah cards, making a dreidel, playing the dreidel game, tasting food, designing their own Synogogue and signing songs! Your children also know many facts about the history of Judaism; quiz them and see!

Year One enjoyed their Christmas party yesterday and proved themselves to be fantastic dancers at our disco. After an exciting day the children were surprised with a visit from Father Christmas himself.
