Date: 12th Jan 2021 @ 5:18pm

Hi F2,

We hope you are all keeping safe at home!

We will be uploading daily instructions for your tasks, so keep coming back every day to check for your new tasks to complete! Once completed, please upload them to Tapestry. You can upload pictures of your work that you have completed.

Literacy – Little Red Riding Hood

Think about the setting of Little Red Riding Hood. Can you describe it?

Draw a picture of the setting and write captions to describe it. E.g. brown trees, long grass etc.

Phonics – Letter Names

In Phonics, we are practising our Phase 2 and 3 sounds:

Phase 2 (s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss)

Phase 3 (j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er).

Ask an adult to hide letters around your house and go on an alphabet hunt.

Adult say: My sound is… but my name is… can you find me.

Example: My sound is ‘a’ but my name is ‘A’ can you find me.

Maths – Length

Make 5 different paper chains with your grownups/siblings. Can you put them in order of length? Can you explain how you have ordered your paper chains? Which one is longer? Which one is shorter?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/znyyscw/articles/zkgp6v4  Watch the video.

We use certain words to compare things. We use longer and longest, taller and tallest. Can you compare the different animals?

Understanding the World:  Oak Academy – Habitat Lesson 2

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-understand-what-makes-a-good-habitat-70ukjd

Join in with the lesson.

Hi F2,

We hope you are all keeping safe at home!

We will be uploading daily instructions for your tasks, so keep coming back every day to check for your new tasks to complete! Once completed, please upload them to Tapestry or School Spider. You can upload pictures of the work you have completed.

We cannot wait to see all of your hard work!

Literacy – Little Red Riding Hood

Remind yourself of the story of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Here is a link of the story on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q32d4k9jeTE

Look at the story map you created yesterday. Can you retell the story in as much detail as you can remember? Maybe a grown up or sibling can join in. You could even use your favourite toys/teddy bears.

Can you think of actions to go with each picture of your story map?

Remember to think about the structure of the story – beginning, middle and end. As well as the characters and the plot.

Phonics – Consolidation

In Phonics, we are practising our Phase 2 and 3 sounds:

Phase 2 (s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss)

Phase 3 (j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er).

Go round your house and find objects that begin with the sound ‘t’ can you draw them?

Challenge – Can you write the word to match your picture? E.g. teddy

Maths – More and Less

In Mathematics, we are continuing to learn about ‘More and Less’.

Can you find some objects in your home e.g. sweets, fruit, teddy etc.

Choose a number between 1-20.

Use the objects to work out what one more/one less is. Can you write the number?

Repeat this a few times with different numbers.

Understanding the World – ‘Can all animals be pets?’

In Understanding the World, we are continuing to think about ‘Can all animals be pets?’

Listen to the story ‘Dear Zoo’ again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqGYWRHOV6E

Make your own animal mask of one of the animals from the story using objects from around your home e.g. a paper plate, paper, cereal box.

Can you make your own flipbook story similar to the ‘Dear Zoo’ story with pictures using different animals? For example: I wrote to the Zoo to send me a pet. They sent me a crocodile. He was too snappy. I sent him back.

Can you retell the story back to a grown up?

Have fun and remember to post pictures of your work on School Spider or Tapestry!

Hi F2,

We hope you are okay and are staying safe with your families. Each day we are going to post a blog in the morning on the class page outlining their tasks for the day. Here is a plan of today’s activities.

  • This week in Literacy, we are learning about the story, Little Red Riding Hood. Today, Listen and watch the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q32d4k9jeTE. Can you create a story map using pictures? (See below for an example) Can you remember what happens in the beginning, middle and end?
  • This week in Phonics, we are practising our Phase 2 sounds: (s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss) and our Phase 3 sounds: (j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er). Today, play the free games on Phonics Play to practise your blending skills. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources
  • This week in Mathematics, we are learning about ‘More and Less’. Today, play the game ‘Chopper Squad’ https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/chopper-squad. Can you make a number line to 20? Choose a number and find out what is one more and one less than that number? Write it down your answers.
  • This week in Understanding the World, we are thinking about ‘Can all animals be pets?’ Today, listen to the story ‘Dear Zoo’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqGYWRHOV6E. Think about different animals that can be pets and animals that cannot be pets and why. Can you draw pictures of different animals and sort them into 2 groups.
  1. Can be pets
  2. Can’t be pets

For example: A dog could be a pet because it is small. An elephant cannot be a pet because it is too big. Challenge – Can you write the name of the animal next to your picture and why it may or may not be a pet?

Have fun and remember to post pictures of your work on Tapestry!

F2 - Thematic Photographs, by Miss Ward

Date: 21st Sep 2020 @ 6:49pm

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week in our Thematic work, our topic is ‘What do you know about me?’. Within this topic the children will be looking at how they have changed since they were a baby/toddler to them now. To support this topic we would like a photograph of your child as a baby or toddler so we can use them within our work.

As we are unable to ask you to bring the photos in to school, we are asking for you to email them to us and we can print them for your child to use within their thematic work.

Please could you email your photos to [email protected] by Friday 25th September and put the subject of the email as your child’s name. This email address is only for sending photographs and any other communication should be passed through the school office.
