It's almost Friday and it's almost half term!!

Overview
Maths - Reasoning and Problem solving - Line Graphs. There is a worksheet uploaded on the school spider for you to work through.
English - Listen/Read chapter 14 and 15 of Journey to the River Sea- you can read ahead if you like as we need to finish before we return from half term.
Please read ALL of the information below…..
Today you are going to put the last three days’ worth of work together to write your own short section of the story.
You will start from when Maia took off her mask…
Art -
Create a South American Landscape using a medium focus of your choice (paint, crayons, tissue paper, and coloured pencils).
Make sure your piece is bold and bright. Think about how it represents South America.
Use the internet to find some inspiration for your own piece.

Today's Tasks
Maths - Constructing Line graphs and plotting the data given (worksheet uploaded onto the school spider). Make sure you give your line graph a title and label the X and Y axis.
English - Carrying on from yesterday you are going to be carrying on with writing your story. There is a worksheet on the school spider for you to work through. There is also two new sentence types to include so please look at the examples on the attached document on SchoolSpider.
Science- We are continuing with electricity and different types of circuits. Today's task will focus on parallel circuits..

A brief outline of today's tasks
English:
Listen again to the end of Chapter 9
The Plan.
In your own words explain the plan that Finn, Clovis and Maia have hatched.
You need to understand the plan – who is involved, what they are going to do and how this looks to others. Imagine you are Finn and you are faced with the task of explaining the plan to others.
Imagining you are Finn…write down the plan to send Clovis back to England so he can stay in the Amazon.
Maths:
Forming Equations - Algebra. A PowerPoint is uploaded onto the school spider for you to work through.
Art:
Today you will look at some of the work of Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo’s artwork.
On the PowerPoint attached you will find several images of her work.
Create a short factfile about who she was, note key information about her life and some key points about her style of artwork.

Here is a brief overview of today's lessons;
English today will be reading/listening to Journey to the River Sea- ensure you are up to chapter 8. The links for the chapters are on SchoolSpider and then there are some questions to complete.
In Maths we are continuing with algebra and forming expressions. There is a PowerPoint and worksheet on SchoolSpider to help you.
In Science you will be investigating what happens when certain changes are made to a circuit.

A brief outline of today's tasks
Maths - Two step function machines - a PowerPoint will be uploaded onto the school spider for you to work through with a focus on reasoning style questions.
English - Listren to chapter 7 of 'Journey to the River Sea' and complete the questions on the school spider. Once you have done this please listen to chapter 8 ready for tomorrow's learning.
Geography - You will be making comparsions between England and Brazil, South America. A document will be uploaded onto the school spider to help you with this.
This week is also Children's Mental Health week - keep an eye out for some extra activities realting to this.

Here is a brief overview of today's lessons;
English today will be reading/listening to Journey to the River Sea- ensure you are up to chapter 5. Today we would like you to listen to and make notes on chapters 5 and 6 and then complete the activities outlined on SchoolSpider.
In Maths we have set an activity on function machines. You need to problem solve to try and work out what has happened to the number as it has passed through the function machine.
HIstory will be researching the Maya's diet and what crops they grew. There is also a recipe for Hot Chocolate!

Here is a brief overview of today's lessons;
English today will be reading/listening to Journey to the River Sea- ensure you are up to chapter 5. Then I would like you to edit and improve yesterday's work ensuring you have used at least one 2A sentence, 1 relative clause, a rhetorical question and a simile.
In Maths we have set an arithmetic paper- give yourself aroung 20-30 minutes to complete this and then try and boost your class score on Times Tables Rockstars.
RE will be recapping what happened at the last supper and how it is replicated at mass.

Maths - Reasoning and mastery style questions focusing on volume and capacity.
English - Carrying on a story opening using the image we looked at on Tuesday.
Art - Create a skyline continuation of Liverpool - think about colours, shapes, materials you use etc.

Half way through the week already!! Hope you are all keeping safe!

Don't forget about the well being tasks to keep you busy at home! School work is important but so is staying happy and healthy so remember to keep active and spend some time each day doing something you enjoy.
Brief Outline for Today
English - There is a worksheet uploaded for you to improve some sentences using 2a sentences, relative clauses, similes, metaphors and personifcation.
Maths - Finding the volume of cubes and cuboids (worksheet uploaded onto the school spider).
Science - There is a video to watch all about circuits carrying on from the previous lesson. You need to watch the video and complete the task at the end.

Yesterday we had a few issues with the internet in school so we will catch up on marking the home learning today.

A brief overview
English - There is an image uploaded for you to have a look at. We would then like you to use your imagination to asnwers the questions uploaded onto the spider.
Maths - We would just like you to complete page 1 of the worksheet on volume and then have a go of the challenge uploaded on the home learning weekly timetable.
Geography - It is thinking of biomes in South America and creating a survival guide.
Don't forget to said some pictures of completed work.
Well done to Miss Flynn's class who won the latest Rock Star Times Tables battle. There is another battle which is live until Sunday!! Good Luck!!

We can't believe we are already at the end of week 3 of online learning! Thank you for all the fantastic work that you have sent in this week.

A brief outline for today
English - Today you will use similes and metaphors to form a descriptive piece of writing. You will be imagining you are Maia from our text 'Journey to the River Sea.'
Maths - Intepreting negative numbers on a line graph and answering questions alongside this.
RE - Following on from last week looking at our topic 'Exploring the Mass' there are some questions uploaded onto the school spider for you.
There is also the home well-being activities for you to complete at home with your families. We have loved seeing some pictures of some of you baking at home so please do send us any pictures of what you get up to.
Also don't forget to take part in the Rockstars Times Tables battle.

English today will involve a new poem called 'Rainforest Phantoms'- you will need to read, annotate and explore the poem in detail noting any unfamiliar vocabulary and researching meaning/definitions.

Today's Geography will investigate trade and the economy within key South American countries. You will need to label and colour a map and complete the attached worksheet.

Good Morning Year 6,
We hope you are all keeping safe and enjoying some time with your families.
We have uploaded a daily video explaing the tasks we would like you to complete today.
A brief overview
English you will be completing your final letter to Boris Johnson perusading him to help you slow down deforestation and the impact it is having on our country. We would like you to edit the work from yesterday and then write your final piece.
Maths is multiplying decimals (there is a PowerPoint for you to work through on the school spider).
Art is to research a famous South American artist and create a fact file including information about his early life, his work and what inspires his artwork (more information on the school spider).
We really do love seeing your work that you have completed at home so please do send us some pictures of your work through the school spider.
We have also added some at home well-being ideas for you to complete throughout the next few weeks to keep you busy and bring some enjoyment to you and your families through this very strange time.

Activity 1:
Find 3 pieces of quality evidence on the impact of deforestation to include in your letter- use the internet to find these or the videos watched last week. The video above explains this.
Activity 2:
Write three sentences that use repetition in each to reiterate an important point. The video above explains this.Activity 3:
Write 3 sentence about the impact of deforestation using interesting adjectives and adverbs. The video above explains this.
Activity 4:
Write one sentence about why we should reduce/stop deforestation
Maths: It is following on with addition and subtraction of decimals. There will be a worksheet uploaded onto the school spider. There is a silver and gold challenge! How many can you do?
Geography: Understand the geographical similarities and differences between Brazil in South America and USA and Russia. More information will be on the school spider.
